Salesforce Net Zero Cloud is a powerful tool for tracking greenhouse gas emissions. But like all tools, Net Zero Cloud requires an in-depth understanding to utilize its full value potential. Green Impact is a Salesforce implementation partner that specializes in Net Zero Cloud, so we can provide our clients with configurations that suit their specific use cases. This blog details examples of the technical components and capabilities that Green Impact provides to help our clients get the most out of Net Zero Cloud.
Automations
Green Impact has built automations to create and link various objects or relationships that are not standard with the tool. For example, our team developed automations to apply specialized emissions factors to relevant objects or assets. Net Zero Cloud comes with standard emissions factor sets, but often clients need additional emissions factors for things like building energy intensity, different global locations, or uncommon fuel sources. Green Impact’s automations integrate these factors into the standard Net Zero Cloud carbon footprint calculations.
Other automations that we provide automatically generate water and waste footprints from input data, allowing clients to view their waste and water data in terms of environmental impacts. These automations are all helpful in tailoring data outputs to be more accurate and provide a better overall picture of an organization’s carbon footprint.
Permission Sets
Net Zero Cloud comes with standard permission sets, but Green Impact has expanded upon these capabilities to enable Net Zero Cloud users to view certain objects that are not visible out of the box. This includes both exposing these objects in the user interface as well as setting permissions to objects not accounted for in the standard permission sets.
Reports
Net Zero Cloud has powerful standard analytics reporting capabilities, but supplementing with tactical reports can provide valuable insights and ease of use. Net Zero Cloud does not come standard with report types for all Net Zero objects. When setting up the platform, Green Impact creates import report types for all objects that apply to your edition of Net Zero Cloud. This minimizes the level of effort to gain tactical insights into individual objects, beyond the standard analytics tools.
Optical Character Recognition:
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is a capability that Green Impact implements for many of our customers via Salesforce Net Zero Cloud’s Intelligent Document Reader (IDR) tool. OCR is a technology that converts documents, such as scanned paper documents, PDFs, or images captured via camera, into editable and searchable digital texts. This tool eliminates manual data entry and reduces human errors. It also improves data processing efficiency and data utilization by converting unstructured data into structured formats, enabling automatic workflows, and supporting large-scale document management and processing.
Green Impact has expanded upon the standard IDR functionality to provide in app file upload flows, as well as email services to easily capture files from users. These flows accept files like utility bills, extract the data and insert applicable records into Net Zero Cloud objects. The original files link directly to the records for easy auditability.
This feature is key for organizations that have large data volumes and complex supplier networks. IDR enables an organization’s Net Zero Cloud to provide a full scope of emissions along the value chain without absorbing multiple hours and resources to manually upload data from physical sources.
Training
Net Zero Cloud is designed around the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. Many Net Zero Cloud users are not specialized in Environmental, Social, and Governance concepts and are not intimately familiar with related frameworks. Our team makes a point to stay current on frameworks, regulations, and protocols relevant to ESG reporting and compliance so we can advise our clients.
Our client training sessions include high-level information on Scope 1, 2, and 3 for all involved employees, so they have not only the technical skills necessary to operate the tool but also the background knowledge necessary to interpret the data. These sessions blend technical skills and sustainability knowledge to provide a better customer experience on the platform, leaving users with the knowledge they need to succeed post-implementation.
Salesforce Net Zero Cloud is an expansive ESG data management platform with the ability to transform large quantities of data from multiple sources and provide insightful analytics and data reporting. Like any advanced technology, Net Zero Cloud’s full utility is only unlocked by leveraging intimate knowledge of the platform. Green Impact is fully dedicated to assisting our clients in configuring Net Zero Cloud to meet their specific needs. If your organization is considering implementing or is currently using Net Zero Cloud and is interested in harnessing the full potential of the platform, schedule a discovery call with Green Impact to discuss how we can use our technical expertise to empower your sustainability goals.
